Volunteering

We provide a large support network of volunteers which includes:

  • Pink Ladies, Florist and Gift Shop volunteers
  • Play leaders in the Child and Adolescent Unit
  • Volunteers in various departments through out the hospital.

Our volunteers are a diverse group of men and women who currently range in age up to 90 years young. Many of our volunteers have been with us for more than 20 years. The care and friendliness of our volunteers continues to brighten the lives of thousands of patients. Our volunteers reflect the multicultural nature of our local community.

Volunteers are invaluable members of our hospital community. They work behind the scenes to provide the following services:

  • Patient library service
  • Newspaper delivery to the wards
  • Shopping at the kiosk for toiletries

  • Running of the Pink Ladies Florist and Gift Shop weekdays and Saturdays

Volunteers also form part of the services we provide in the local Community Health Centres: such as Berowra, Brooklyn, Galston, Hillview, Pennant Hills and Wisemans Ferry.

The Pink Ladies Auxiliary was established in 1962 and is reputedly the oldest volunteer group of its kind in Australia. The Pink Ladies Auxiliary is now an integral and vital part of the high quality services delivered by the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service.

The Pink Ladies Auxiliary continues to be a generous financial supporter of the hospital.

Becoming a volunteer at HKHS is an opportunity to make a difference in your local community and at the same time make lasting friendships.
