​November 2013:

The first sod of the $120 million STAR Building at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is underway.

The State-Government funded project is a commitment to deliver improved and more modern facilities to the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai community.


The STAR Building will provide a new home for surgical, theatres, anaesthetic and recovery services.

The project includes:

•              A four-storey building with its own entry foyer

•              Eight operating theatres

•              Three 28–bed inpatient surgical wards Sterilising Department

•              New supply and docking bay

•              Kitchens

•              Health Information Services.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital's General Manager Frank Bazik said the introduction of the modern STAR Building to the campus was a win for patients, staff and visitors.

"The new building will enhance our delivery of care to patients and provide our staff with more modern facilities to further complement our commitment to meet the demands of best practice health care," Mr Bazik said.
