Who doesn't want to PARTY?

Everyone likes to have a good time and cut loose, and why not? You study hard enough and you just want to have a good time with your friends…

The sun is out, exams are out of the way, it's time to hit up the beach with your mates and soak up some sun.  A normal day for most but for some your world changes forever…

You convince your mum to lend you her car. Bingo! Keys in hand, tunes start pumping and all your friends pile into the car. Off you all go.

Whilst driving your phone goes off and it's probably another friend wanting to know the plan for the day.  You respond to the text and that's the last you remember…

Next thing you wake up confused in the intensive care room with pain all over. As you slowly come round you look up to see your parents who look like they have been crying. Your little sister is being consoled by your dad.

Over the next few days you learn that your car crashed into the back of another car causing your car to spin around and roll three times. Your airbags went off but sadly this was not enough to save the lives of two of your best friends. Your girlfriend is in the spinal intensive care unit and has been told she is a quadriplegic. She will never have the use of her arms and legs again.

Your life has now changed forever, so too has the life of your girlfriend and her family, not to mention the lives and families of your mates who died. The police want to speak to you?

You made the choice by taking the risk to respond to a text message whilst driving with three of your closest friends who didn't wear a seat belt. Now you and those linked to everyone in the car on that sunny day have to live with the consequences of the choices you made. If only you could turn back time…

Sadly you can't turn back time. The P.A.R.T.Y.  Program team want to ensure that this does not become your story. Attending a P.A.R.T.Y. Program helps you to assess your own risky behaviours and those of your friends, allowing you to make better and safer decisions to help keep you and your friends safe so everyone can go on and live their dreams.

Throughout the P.A.R.T.Y. day you will meet:

  • A variety of health professionals in the emergency, intensive and trauma units who are involved with saving and trying to repair lives.
  • A trauma patient who is a similar age to you, suffering with severe injuries.

Will the doctors be able to fix their injuries or will they be left with a disability?

Will the patient be suffering from severe burns after playing with fire?

Will he/she be paralysed from jumping into a pool and breaking their neck?

Will he/she have an amputated leg following getting into a car with a friend who had been taking drugs?

Who knows what their story is going to be?
