Following endorsement from the Master Plan Executive Working Group and the Northern Sydney Local Health District Board, a master plan is now in place to guide the hospital’s future development.

The master plan provides a framework for future expansion of services and helps us to create a campus that allows easier access for the community, is welcoming for staff and patients, with effective way-finding.

This fact sheet provides further information, including a diagram demonstrating how the campus will be better organised into nine zones.

With investment on site approaching $1.3 billion in new clinical facilities, the ability to double the clinical services space and a plan to get much-needed support services on site, Royal North Shore Hospital is well placed to provide world-class health and research facilities long into the future.

In May 2020 the NSW Government has announced a proposed redevelopment of a portion of the Royal North Shore Hospital at the southern end of the campus along Herbert Street. The proposed Herbert Street Precinct, St Leonards Redevelopment Project aims to shape the transformation of RNSH campus and provide world-class facilities for the community in line with the RNSH Master Plan. More information on the Project can be found on the NSW Government website www.herbertstreetprecinct.com.au.
