Royal North Shore Hospital

The integration of the full range of cancer services in a strong multidisciplinary ensures a holistic approach to each patient's individual journey.

Established in 1960, the radiation oncology department is a leading provider in advanced radiotherapy treatment. The highly skilled and dedicated health professionals design and deliver individualised treatment programs optimised for each patient.

The team are at the forefront of technology offering the latest equipment using highly specialised techniques. Radiation oncology also provides a range of support services for patients, and their carers. We host a number of additional programs such as Acupuncture and 'Look Good Feel Better' External Link.

The radiation oncology department is actively involved in cancer research, and is dedicated to improve outcomes for patients and their families. Patients may be eligible to enrol in a number of research trials which can provide access to innovative and advanced treatment techniques. The team is heavily involved in clinical trials with the Australia and New Zealand Radiation Oncology trials group (TROG). The NSCC is also part of the Varian Adaptive Intelligence Consortium.

Ongoing professional development programs are available to all staff, providing them with the most up to date processes to deliver patient-centred care. Development programs also ensure practices are efficient and all staff are able to reach their full potential. Radiation oncologists and radiation therapists accommodate the teaching of emerging students in the field.
