NSLHD and Ryde Hospital invites all stakeholders including members of the community to review and provide advice and feedback on this
draft clinical services plan.
In March 2019, the NSW Government announced $479 million to build a new Ryde Hospital. This project will deliver enhanced emergency, critical care, inpatient, maternity, community and ambulatory health services.
Before we build a hospital for the coming decades, we need to begin with a clinical services plan that spells out what services will be available and how these will be provided. Once finalised, this Plan will be used to inform the buildings and facilities that will be required to provide these services for decades to come.
The clinical services plan has been developed looking at the current and future population profile of the local community and what services will be required to meet their health needs.
This includes evaluation of the services that are currently available and identifies what new services or growth in services will be required. An important part of the considerations are the opportunities from new and emerging treatments and technologies as well as changes in models of care and how these can be incorporated.
The plan has been developed with involvement of clinicians and other staff as well as feedback from consumers about what is important for them in the future.
This version of the draft plan includes individual summaries for each of the clinical services that articulate what the future service will look like. A longer version of the Plan which includes more detailed version of each of the clinical service chapters is available on request.
While the Government has announced the offer of a site at Macquarie Hospital for the new Ryde Hospital, this offer has not been finalised and the clinical services plan is not based on a particular site. Consideration of location will occur in the next stage of planning. This consultation is focussed on the clinical services plan not the future site of the hospital.
