Breastfeeding support including:

  • Postnatal support post discharge for women with complicated breastfeeding issues.
  • Antenatal visits for women with previous difficulties in breastfeeding, breast surgery and health issues that may impact on lactation.
  • Antenatal breastfeeding class.



This service is available to all women who have birthed at Royal North Shore Hospital or who have been an inpatient during lactation or their baby has been an inpatient, and there is a breastfeeding issue.


Self-referral, hospital staff, general practitioner, specialist or Early Childhood Health.

Urgent cases

Please contact your GP or Emergency Department if you are worried about your baby's health or your own. 24 hour contacts are listed in your baby health record book (blue book).

Other information

Post natal women will be seen preferentially in the first six weeks after the birth of their baby.
