This service aims to help the person whose psychiatric symptoms and/or functioning necessitate a period of inpatient support in order to live successfully in the community and to take part in life skills training whilst based in unit or cottage style accommodation.

The multidisciplinary team, in partnership with patients and their carers, endeavour to promote better mental and physical health through the development of realistic patient goals. The aim of the unit is to improve living skills in order to move patients to less restrictive environments. Patients’ mental illness should be sufficiently managed to allow participation in unit and hospital Day Programs. Social integration is encouraged and supported through access the local community shopping centres.
