Child & Youth Mental Health Service - Hornsby

This service consists of a team of mental health clinicians who provide specialist mental health intervention to children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and their families.

This service also provides groups for young people and parents, information and referral to other services and crisis intervention for the community within business hours.

Eligibility

Children and young people aged 0-17 years (or 18 if still at school) with severe and complex mental health problems that live in Hornsby or Ku-ring-gai Local Government Areas.

Referral

Referrals can be made by contacting CYMHS Intake on 9485 6155 between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Health professionals may phone or send referral information (via fax or post). However the family, legal guardian or young person (where appropriate) must contact CYMHS to confirm the referral and initiate the request for service.

Urgent cases

Urgent and crisis cases can contact CYMHS Intake on 9485 6155 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Outside these hours, present to the nearest Emergency Department or contact the Hornsby Adult Acute Care Team on (9477 9123). outside of these hours.

If there are immediate safety concerns, contact "000".

Urgent and crisis cases include where there are concerns for the safety of a young person (e.g. imminent risk of self harm or suicide); risk of harm to others; acute and sudden onset of mental health symptoms.
