The Child and Family Health Service provides free developmental health checks, support and information on parenting issues for families with children aged 0-5 years.  The centre is staffed by Child and Family Health Nurses who are specialised in child physical and brain development and behaviour.   

The nursing team also provide a universal  health home visit for families living in Brooklyn who have had a new baby.

The nursing team work at both Berowra and Hornsby Child and Family Health Centres and can be contacted on the number below or at Hornsby on 99873055.

Following the birth of your baby you will be offered a home visit by one of our Child and Family Health Nurses.

At the first home visit the nurse will check the baby's growth, physical and brain development, discuss any issues regarding breast or infant feeding establish the parents support needs and provide parenting group information.

Parents can attend their local Child and Family Health Centre for regular health checks at 1-4 weeks, 6-8 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years and 4 years.

 Early Parenting Support Group ( for babies up to 12 weeks of age) - no bookings required

You are invited to join our support group for families following birth until 12 weeks.  Come and meet other parents for a chat and exchange of ideas.  A Child and Family Health Nurse will be available to facilitate discussion and provide support including Breastfeeding Support and advice, sleep and settling information, immunisation information, and adjusting to parenting tips. This group also provides parents with an opportunity to socialise and form an ongoing mother's group once the 12 week group is completed.
