 What we do

We provide wound management for burns, both face to face and via telehealth. Patients can also access physiotherapy, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, psychiatry and social work services to assist with their recovery.

 What to bring

  • Medicare card/DVA card
  • Referral letter or discharge letter from the referral source
  • List of current medications and drug allergies
  • Pain medication
  • Workcover/CTP insurance number
     

 When to visit us

Your GP or non-GP specialist is always your first step in seeking treatment for any condition. You will be referred to our service if your treating clinican feels that your treatment requires the input of our specialists. Once we receive the referral it will be reviewed and you will be notified of the outcome and next steps. We see patients either face to face or via telehealth - your specialist will let you know what the best option is for you.   

 

Please note that phone calls from the hospital will appear as a blocked number.  Please answer our call if you can and/or turn on voicemail to allow us to leave you a message.  

 

Please allow a full morning or afternoon for your appointment. Some patients require a longer review and delays can occur.

Exits off the Pacific Highway and the M1 will take you to the hospital on Reserve Road in St Leonards

Bus Route 114 stops directly at the hospital

The hospital is close to St Leonards train station

If you enter the hospital’s main entrance in the Acute Services Building, you will need to follow signs to the Clinical Services building. Take the left diagonal corridor next to the green lifts to get to the clinical services building. Then take the lift to level 6.

From outside the main hospital entrance on Reserve Rd, walk to Westbourne St and turn right. Walk down the hill until you reach the Clinical Services Building. Take the lift up to level 6. On your right as you leave the lift, you will see the check in desk. 

 Referral information

Patients can be referred by a GP or another hospital. Please email referrals to [email protected]

 

Inclusion criteria

  • Any burn requiring advice and treatment.

 

The following details must be included for the referral to be accepted:

  • Patient name 
  • Gender 
  • Date of Birth  
  • Patient’s phone number   
  • Referral Location
  • Referring Doctor name and contact number
  • Burn History- including date of incident
  • Tetanus Prophylaxis up to date?
  • Dressing used. 
  • Follow up plan
  • Patient email

 

The referral will be triaged by the Burns clinic. The patient will then be contacted with appointment details. 

 

Providing more information will aid the triage process and make it more likely that your patient will be seen in the most timely manner possible.
