Mona Vale Hospital’s intensive care team is stepping up its preparations for the move to Northern Beaches Hospital, with the launch of a countdown to the hospital’s October opening.

NUM Josh Pearce said the team felt a countdown would help make the move feel very real.

“It’s certainly building excitement and demonstrating to us the transition is not that far away.

“Northern Beaches Hospital will be a whole new environment for us. Most of us have not had the opportunity to work in a brand new hospital, so we are looking forward to the new building and the new equipment.

“There will be improvements for intensive care patients too, with the new, larger hospital offering more individual rooms and integrated monitoring. This will see patient information directly recorded into the system, saving time and improving access to information.

“Northern Beaches Hospital will be a one-stop shop for many of our patients, where they will be able to receive more complex procedures onsite at Frenchs Forest. This will reduce the need to travel to other sites for specialised health services.”

Northern Beaches Hospital will offer a 20 bed intensive care unit and will be equipped to provide highly specialised care to critically ill patients.
