St Ives AFL Junior Club has donated $2297.05 to CanSupport at the Northern Sydney Cancer Centre, at Royal North Shore Hospital.
The funds were raised via their Pink Socks event held on Mother’s Day 2015.
When making the donation, the club president Rob McGarity and coach coordinator Trev Byrne met CanSupport volunteers, and visited the Cancer Centre’s Day Treatment Unit (where patients receive daily chemotherapy), followed by a tour in Radiation Oncology. Trev Byrne was recently treated for bowel cancer.
Northern Sydney Cancer Centre staff acknowledged the great contribution of St Ives AFL club to the centre since 2010, and it is great news that the club are planning to continue the Pink Socks event in the future.
The donation will be used to fund existing and future cancer information and support services for local patients.Pictured: Second row from left to right: Trev Byrne (Coach Coordinator), Rob McGarity (Club President), Karen Gill (Acting Operations Manager, Cancer & Palliative Care Network NSLHD), Chris Yeomans (Club Vice President Commercial), Front row from left to right: Rowena Broadbent (Acting Nurse Manager, Cancer & Palliative Care Network NSLHD), Sue Forsyth (Cansupport Volunteer), Nan Burley (Cansupport Volunteer).
