The Immunology Service provides assessment and management of the following conditions:
- Inborn errors of immunity, primary and acquired immunodeficiencies.
- Autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Vasculitis including giant cell arteritis, Takayasu arteritis, polyarteritis nodosa, ANCA positive vasculitis, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis
- Sjogren’s syndrome
- Inflammatory myopathies
- Autoinflammatory syndromes (e.g FMF)
- Scleroderma
- Evaluation and treatment for Behcet’s disease
- Evaluation and treatment for IgG4 disease
- Undifferentiated autoimmune conditions
- C1 inhibitor deficiency
The Allergy Service provides assessment and management of allergic conditions in all age groups
- Allergy/anaphylaxis to drugs, vaccine, insects, foods and unknown cause
- Supervised oral allergen challenges to foods/drugs
- Chronic urticaria refractory to antihistamines
- Isolated angioedema
- Eczema refractory to topical corticosteroids
- Allergic rhinitis (hayfever) refractory to antihistamines and intranasal corticosteroids
- Evaluation of possible allergic asthma
- Mast cell disorders
The Anaesthetic Allergy Service provides assessment for patients in all age groups with perioperative reactions and investigates reactions to drugs or substances specifically associated with anaesthesia and surgery.
The Immunology Clinic is involved in management of HIV patients. We provide outpatient care in collaboration with Sexual Health and Infectious diseases physicians in the Community Health Centre building of RNSH.
The Neuroimmunology Clinic is a collaborative multidisciplinary clinic to evaluate complex neuroimmunologic disease. Referrals to this clinic are by Neurologists or Immunologists only.
The Immuno-ophthalmology clinic provides assessment and management for patients with ocular inflammatory disease. Referrals to this clinic are by Ophthalmologists or Immunologists only.
The RNSH Immunology Clinic is unable to provide service for the following:
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Elimination diets for food intolerance or behavioural manipulation
