Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) High Risk Foot Services identify and manage high-risk diabetic feet.
The Royal North Shore High Risk Foot Service is one of two in NSLHD, with the other based at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. Referrals to the Royal North Shore service can be made for people living in the Lower North Shore, Ryde or Hunters Hill LGAs, as well as residents of the southern part of the Northern Beaches who have been referred by the Brookvale Community Health Centre podiatry service.
The goal of these services is to reduce hospitalisation and foot amputation for people experiencing diabetic foot disease. The service involves podiatry, microbiology, orthotics, physiotherapy, endocrinology, vascular and orthopaedic surgery.
