 What we do

In addition, Graythwaite also provides rehabilitation services to patients with severe burns from across NSW.

Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre (GRC) consists of two 32-bed units over two levels. Facilities include: a hydrotherapy pool; modern gymnasiums; therapy laundry, kitchen and study; outdoor therapy and recreation areas; library; dining room; and patient lounge and kitchen.

Our therapy services available include: medical , nursing, physiotherapy, occupational  therapy, psychology, speech pathology, dietetics, orthotics and podiatry.

As GRC is co-located with Ryde Hospital, patients benefit from ready access to acute services including acute wards and medical imaging.

Graythwaite also runs:

  • a stroke follow up clinic
  • a day rehab service
  • a sexuality and intimacy clinic for people with disabilities
  • an amputee clinic

 When to visit us

Eligibility criteria for admission:

  • Clear, achievable rehabilitation goals. Given a recent disability or impairment there has to be a reasonable expectation of functional improvement
  • Motivation and willingness to participate in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program
  • Cognitive and physical ability to participate in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program
  • Medically stable

 How to visit us

Ryde Hospital provides 350 free car parking spaces spread across six car parks. The main carpark comprises both covered and open air parking spaces via Denistone Road. The other large capark is a covered carpark in the basement of the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre via Fourth Avenue. There is a patient drop off zone outside the emergency department.

 Referral information

Referrals for patients currently an inpatient at another facility:

  • Treating team to complete PATU form and fax back to (02) 9485 6077 with a copy of a rehabilitation consult and/ or relevant patient notes (e.g. medical report, therapist reports).
