Can transport be organised for people to attend?

The patient must organise their own transport to attend appointments.

 

Is there a cost to patients to attend the clinic?

Patients with Medicare incure no cost. For patients without Medicare, the cost will depend on the care required.

 What we do

We provide comprehensive care and treatment for gynaecology and menopausal issues. For example, infertility, pap smear follow up, vaginal, ovarian and uterine abnormalities, uterine/vaginal prolapses, contraception, incontinence, sexual health and wellbeing, menopausal symptoms.

 

We care for and treat women who are requiring gynaecology care (e.g. abnormal pap test results, gynaecological abnormalities and cancers,  sexual health and wellbeing, menopausal symptoms, etc.).

 

Our gynaecology outpatient services include the following clinics:

 What to bring

  • A hard copy of all of your blood tests and ultrasound reports (images are not necessary)
  • Your referral letter from your GP to Royal North Shore Hospital
  • Any questions you have for the Nurses
  • Your Medicare card and proof of address

 When to visit us

Your GP or non-GP specialist is always your first step in seeking treatment for any condition. You will be referred to our service if your treating doctor feels that your treatment requires the input of a gynaecologist. Once we receive the referral it will be reviewed by a doctor and you will be notified of the outcome and next steps.

 How to visit us

Exits off the Pacific Highway and the M1 will take you to the hospital on Reserve Road in St Leonards

Bus Route 114 stops directly at the hospital

The hospital is close to St Leonards train station

The hospital is a 5 minute walk from St Leonards Station

Street and multi storey car parking are available on the Royal North Shore hospital campus. Fees apply, so please check signage. Concession parking rates are available for patients and carers. Click here for more details.

The clinics is located in the Clinical Services Building. Entrance on Westbourne Street, St Leonards. Take lifts at entrance to Level 3. Clinic entrance is on the left.

 

If you have arrived at the main entrance of RNSH you may request the Information desk for assistance or walk down past the cafeteria to the left corridor to Level 3 entrance of clinics.

 Referral information

All patients are required to have a referral letter from one of the following:

  • GP - valid for one year
  • Specialist - valid for three months
  • Internal hospital referral - valid for three months

 

Most patients will be allocated appointments within two weeks to four months (dependent on requirements). Wait time for gynaecology urology appointments can be up to 12 months.

 

Women/adolescents must live within the Northern Sydney Local Health District.

 

Providing more information will aid the triage process and make it more likely that your patient will be seen in the most timely manner possible.
