Hand Physiotherapy is a specialised field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
We provide assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders of the hand and upper limb. Musculoskeletal disorders involve joints, bones, tendons, peripheral nerves and soft tissues of the upper limb. Typical treatment includes splinting, exercise, manual therapy, scar management, advice and education.
The MVCHC Hand Physiotherapy Service, is not a Hand Clinic, and does not provide Medical follow-up, x-rays, casting, regular wound care, and suture removal. Workers compensation, and Third party Claims are not managed in the Public Health System.
Due to the limited hours of service, priority is given to Acute and post-surgical conditions of the hand and wrist. Conditions of a more chronic nature, may be placed on a Wait-List. Please contact the administration staff, to discuss if your hand condition and referral is appropriate
