What we do

Women requiring assessment and treatment for specialised physiotherapy for the following:

  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness
  • Pelvic floor muscle pain
  • Pelvic floor birth trauma
  • Incontinence
  • Poor bladder or bowel control
  • Pelvic organ prolapse (for both surgical prevention or post-surgical management)
  • Pregnancy related muscle or joint pain

 

We provide care to female patients 18 years and over presenting with any of the following:

  • Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction
  • Pelvic floor birth trauma
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Overactive bladder / urinary frequency
  • Faecal incontinence
  • Pelvic organ prolapse (before or after surgery)
  • Dyspareunia
  • Antenatal and postnatal pregnancy related musculoskeletal conditions
  • Abdominal muscle separation (DRAM)

What to bring

  • Images or scans  
  • Test results
  • Report from specialist (obstetrician, gynaecologist or urologist)
  • Surgical report (if any gynaecology, urology or anorectal surgery performed)
  • Any abdominal binders or supports currently being used

When to visit us

Referrals to this clinic are accepted from specialists, midwives, physiotherapists and GPs for females over the age of 18 who present with one or more of the above mentioned conditions. You must also live in the Ryde Hospital catchment area.

How to visit us

Ryde Hospital provides 350 car parking spaces spread across six car parks. The main car park comprises both covered and open air parking spaces via Denistone Road. The other large car park is a covered car park in the basement of the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre via Fourth Avenue. There is a patient drop off zone outside the emergency department.

Referral information

Referrals are accepted from specialists, midwives, physiotherapists and GPs. They are to be emailed or faxed prior to the initial appointment.

Can transport be organised?

Transport must be organised personally. There is a bus stop at the front of the hospital for those taking public transport. The main hospital car park is free of charge and has several allocated parking spots for those attending outpatient appointments.

Is there a cost to patients to attend the clinic?

Consultations are free of charge to eligible Medicare card holders.
