What we do

Northern Sydney Local Health District Podiatry Services treat people at high risk of developing foot problems. The goal of our service is to prevent hospitalisation and foot amputation. Appointments are only available to those who have been assessed as having the greatest clinical need and are at risk of serious foot complications. Services available include assessment of circulation and sensation, care of skin and nails, nail surgery, wound care, footwear assessment and advice.

When to visit us

In order to be eligible for our service, patients must have one or more of the following medical conditions which place the foot / leg at high risk:

  • Diabetes
  • Foot ulceration / cellulitis / warm oedematous foot
  • Partial or total foot amputation due to vascular / neurological complications
  • Significant peripheral vascular disease (PVD or PAD)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis with significant foot deformity
  • Neuroarthropathy
  • Peripheral neuropathy / neuropathic symptoms
  • Renal failure - chronic / dialysis
  • Spina Bifida
  • Transplant recipients
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

Patients must also live within Northern Beaches Local Government boundaries

How to visit us

Free parking is available at Mona Vale Hospital for all visitors and staff within the designated car parks on the hospital grounds. There is two hour street parking also available surrounding the hospital grounds.

For access to the Beachside Rehabilitation Unit, hydrotherapy pool, loading dock and support services, please enter the hospital car park via gate 1.

For access to the urgent care centre please access the hospital car park via gate 2.

For access to the Mona Vale Community Health building please access the hospital car park via gate 3.

To be eligible for our services, patients require a referral letter from their GP, clearly stating how they meet our eligibility criteria.
Patients aged under 65 and urgent cases as listed below, can access the service directly by phoning 9998 6125

Patients aged 65 or older will be required to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to request access to the service

Patients with current foot ulceration, infection or acute Charcot's Neuroarthropathy will be prioritised for urgent attention - please phone 9998 6125
Whilst all patients who meet our eligibility criteria will be able to access our services, appointment duration and frequency will be determined by level of risk and clinical need, determined after assessment by our podiatrists.

Other information

Is there a cost to patients to attend the clinic?

There is no cost to attend, however there may be costs associated with the supply of some items such as pressure offloading boots.
