Orthopaedic Clinic - Ryde Hospital

This is a specialist outpatient clinic for patients who need an orthopaedic follow up after a visit to the emergency department or an inpatient stay at Ryde Hospital.

Everyone’s visit to the clinic is tailored to their individual clinical needs. You may be required to;

• Have an x-ray (located adjacent to emergency department)
• See an orthopaedic doctor for assessment
• See the nurse (for a wound dressing)
• See a physiotherapist for casting, splinting and exercises

Please bring any private x-ays related to your current injury.

A clinic visit may take more than an hour. Please bring bottled water, a snack and reading or entertainment material.

This is a specialist outpatient clinic for patients who need an othopaedic follow up after a visit to the emergency department (ED) or an inpatient stay at Ryde Hospital. An appointment for this clinic will be made prior to the patient leaving the hospital after their original visit to ED or for surgery.

If you have been told an x-ray will be taken at your orthopaedic clinic visit, please consider having your x-ray within 48 hours before your appointment to save time. Please go straight to the Medical Imaging Department (near ED) during the following hours: 08:00-16:00 Wednesday to Friday.

No appointment required for an x-ray.

Patients are referred from the emergency department or after orthopaedic surgery at Ryde Hospital.

What if I am a private patient?

If you have private health insurance, or an injury related to Work Cover, motor accident or a compensable claim, you can see an orthopaedic specialist in their private rooms.
