 When to visit us

Anyone over the age of 16 who resides in the Ryde or Hunters Hill local government areas with a referral from a surgeon with visiting rights to Ryde Hospital is eligible.

Pre Admission Clinic
Before your operation date you may need to attend an assessment at the Pre Admission Clinic. Hospital staff will inform you if this is needed, depending on your general health, medication you are taking and your surgical procedure.  The Pre Admission Clinic will organise tests and help plan your care after your surgery.  Hospital staff will tell you if you need to come to a Pre Admission Clinic.  Interpreter services are available for Non-English speaking patients.

When you arrive at the hospital for surgery
Come to the main entrance of Ryde Hospital and ask for the admissions officer to check in for surgery. You will then go to the perioperative unit where you will be prepared for your operation. Is it essential that you are NOT LATE for your admission, as being late might result in your procedure being cancelled.

 How to visit us

Ryde Hospital provides 350 free car parking spaces spread across six car parks. The main carpark comprises both covered and open air parking spaces via Denistone Road. The other large capark is a covered carpark in the basement of the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre via Fourth Avenue. There is a patient drop-off zone outside the emergency department.

Referral process
Your GP must refer you to a surgeon with visiting rights at Ryde Hospital.  You will need to make an appointment with the surgeon in their private rooms (please discuss any charges for specialist consultation with the practice manager).
Your surgeon will include the urgency of the procedure, and you will be contacted by Ryde Hospital to arrange the date of your operation.

Prior to your planned (elective) surgery, you will need to bring a Recommendation for Admission booklet, which must be completed by your surgeon.
