 What we do

We provide treatment for: 

  • Patients who have been seen in the Hornsby Hospital Emergency Department by the Orthopaedic Registrar that have been requested to attend a follow up appointment in the Ortho Fracture clinic. 

 

We care for and treat people who have had: 

  • Broken bones 
  • Damaged joints 
  • Injuries to tendons and ligaments 
  • Orthopaedic surgery 

 What to bring

  • Images or scans (this may be done on the day)  
  • Medicare card 

 When to visit us

You may be referred to the Ortho Fracture clinic after being seen through the Emergency department at Hornsby Hospital, your discharge paperwork will advise to call to make an appointment. 

 

You may be referred for a follow up check if you were seen by the Ortho registrar in the Hornsby Hospital emergency department or if you were seen by the emergency department registrar following consultation with the Ortho team. 

 

You will require one of the following: 

  • Referral letter from the emergency department 
  • Discharge letter from Hornsby Hospital 

 How to visit us

Turn onto Palmerston Road from Edgeworth David Avenue. The Emergency entrance is just after the Burdett Street Intersection on the right. The Multi-storey carpark is further along after the Northcott Road junction.

Transdev bus 575 travels to Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital from Hornsby and Turramurra railway stations. This picks up and sets down at the front of the Hospital on Palmerston Road. There are no buses to the Hospital from Waitara Station.

The closest railway stations are Hornsby and Waitara. Hornsby is accessible via both the main Northern Line and the North Shore Line. Waitara is on the North Shore Line. Transdev bus service #575 travels to Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital from these stations.

From Hornsby Station – The distance to the Hospital is approximately 1.8km. If you wish to walk please note there are a number of hills. Exit the station on the George Street side via the pedestrian overpass.


From Waitara Station – The distance to the Hospital is approximately 1.5km. Exit the station on the Alexandria Avenue side. This walk is reasonably flat.

Hornsby Hospital has a multi-storey car park that offers 500 spaces and is located at Gate 2 (Palmerston Road). This carpark provides access for all areas across the campus.

The Orthopaedic Fracture clinic is located at the Outpatients Department of Hornsby Hosptial in Building 60, Level 1. 

 Referral information

To access this service you must have attended Hornsby Hospital including the emergency department or live within the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai local government area. The clinic does not accept direct referrals from GP's or other outside providers.

 

Inclusion Criteria

  • Presented to the Emergency department at Hornsby Hospital with a discharge letter for a follow up in the clinic post fracture  
  • Within the NSLHD Local Health District  
  • Has a discharge referral from another Hospital but lives within the NSLHD Local Health District  

 

Exclusion Criteria 

  • Has a GP or specialist referral  
  • Does not meet the eligibility criteria 
  • Lives outside of the NSLHD Local Health District area
