Paediatric Physiotherapy Hospital Outpatients - Royal North Shore Hospital

We provide physiotherapy services for infants, children and young people aged 0 to 18 years.

We assist children and their families with: 

• Support after discharge from neonatal intensive care and special care nurseries 
• Rehabilitation after surgery, illness and fractures 
• Complex neurological, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions 
• Pain management 
• Casting and bracing 

We routinely measure height and weight in all children as part of a child’s health assessment.
 

• Your child’s Medicare card 
• Your child’s referral letter 
• Images and scans relevant to the appointment 

To visit our service, you will require a referral from a doctor, physiotherapist or nurse. 

You need to be 0-18 years old and reside in the North Shore/Ryde local government area. 

Once a referral is received, we will contact you via phone to schedule an appointment. 

Please note that phone calls from the hospital will appear as a blocked number.  Please answer our call if you can and/or turn on voicemail to allow us to leave you a message.  

Referrals will be triaged, and the patient will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. This process may take between 1-4 weeks. Referrers will be contacted if more information is needed.  

Wait times vary depending on presenting condition:

• 1 to 2 weeks for urgent conditions
• Up to 12 weeks for non-urgent conditions

Out of area referrals may be considered, please phone to discuss suitability. 

Is there a cost to patients to attend the clinic?

There is no cost with a Medicare card. For clients who do not have a Medicare card, a cost will be incurred.
