 What we do

The Respiratory Investigation Unit uses various tests to measure respiratory function (how your lungs are working). We may be asked to help diagnose reasons for shortness of breath or to monitor treatment for breathing disorders.

We care for people with a great variety of respiratory diseases and see others having chemotherapy or surgery to establish and monitor their breathing.

 What to bring

  • List of current medications
  • Referral

 When to visit us

We see mostly adults but some children over the age of 7 as long as they can follow instructions. If no English speaking an interpreter may be required. Test take between 1/2 an hour and 1 1/2 hours depending on what is required. You may be asked to withhold certain breathing medications before the test.
