Dr Liz Marles

B.Sc (Hons) B.Med (Hons) Dip.Ed FRACGP FAICD

Dr Liz Marles is a former secondary teacher graduating with a Science Honours degree and Diploma in Education from the Univeristy of Melbourne in 1984.  In 1988 she went back to study Medicaine at the University of Newcastle, and graduated with honours in 1992.  After completing her Fellowship in General Practice, Liz worked as a Lecturer at the University of Sydney and as a GP as the Aboriginal Medical Service in Redfern .  In 2004 Liz joined the Hornsby GP Unit and for the past 5 years has been Director of the Unit

Liz enjoys the diversity and challenges of general practice, and particularly likes getting to know her patients well so she can provide the type of care that meets their needs.  Over the years she has developed specific expertise in chronic disease management, mental health and Aboriginal health, but also has a strong focus on holistic and preventative care.  Liz's passion for general practice has led to her involvement in multiple government committees and Boards, as well as in the training of junior doctors and GP registrars. 

Liz is a Past President of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and was the medical co-host of the TV series "Save Your Life Tonight" (ABC TV).
