Am I eligible for the program?

To be eligible for the Graduate Health Management Program, applicants need to:

• hold an undergraduate degree from a recognised university, and have graduated within the last two years

• hold an Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand


Do I need to hold a degree in a health related field?

No. For the general stream, we accept applications from graduates who hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised university from any field.

For the finance stream, we accept applications from graduates with a university degree in accounting, finance, business or commence.


Do I need health or management experience?

The NSLHD Graduate Health Management Program is designed to introduce you to the health system and no previous experience or study in health or management is required. The graduate program is not suited to people with extensive management experience.

What is involved in the recruitment process?

For the general stream, all applicants are required to directly apply for the program here. For the finance stream, all applicants are required to directly apply for the program here​. Applicants will be required to provide answers for the selection criteria (between 200-400 words per response) in addition to a cover letter and resume. If you are successful, you will be invited for an interview.

What will I be doing as a Health Management Graduate?​

You will be required to undertake placements across NSLHD in areas including finance and corporate services, people and culture, the executive unit and hospital operations. Throughout your placements, graduates will be required to perform a wide range of high-level administrative tasks, participate in the completion of projects, and critically analyse issues to identify solutions to complex health management problems.


​Do I have to complete the Master of Health Services Management?

All graduates will be required to complete a two-year full time Master of Health Services Management through the University of Tasmania. All university fees are covered by NSLHD. All graduates are entitled to five paid study days per semester aimed at assisting you to complete your studies.


When will the program commence?

The 2024 NSLHD Graduate Health Management Program will commence in July  2023.


What happens at the end of the program?

Graduates are supported to apply for longer term employment opportunities at NSLHD. Targeted career coaching is provided to support this process.​ 

Past graduates have moved onto roles including Project Officer, Patient Reported Measures; Project Officer, Virtual Care Accelerator; Manager, Northern Beaches Hospital Relationships; and Executive Officer, Strategic Operations.​
