Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What is the 'new' approach?

Our study includes a personalised treatment video, in addition to counselling via videoconference, and effective use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

We know that smoking is a leading cause of heart attacks. We also know that six out of 10 smokers quit immediately after having a heart attack. Our aim is to help you to stop smoking and to PREVENT a heart attack.

Our team has developed a new approach where images of you and your family appear in your own personalised video. You will be able to see what it would be like if you really did have a heart attack due to smoking, and the consequences this would bring to you and your loved ones.

To personalize the video, we will ask you to upload some pictures of yourself, your partner, and other loved ones, to be inserted into the video.

We have so far published 2 studies that show this approach is very effective in helping people to stop smoking, with over half still not smoking after 6 months.

Throughout the process our experienced team will provide you with strategies and tools to help you quit and stay quit. And with regular mobile phone messages and calls, you will never be without support.

Is it really Free ?

Yes, it is currently free, although you will need to purchase your own nicotine replacement products. Note that the cost of these can be reduced substantially by obtaining scripts from your doctor. You will also need to cover the cost of your own internet services.

Where and how?

Anywhere that you can access the internet by using a device (computer, laptop, tablet, or phone) that has capability for videoconferencing, i.e. has a microphone and camera.
