NSLHD is an inclusive employer that enables equal access to employment, training, career development and our health services for people with disability, whether they be current employees, prospective employees, our patients, consumers or another part of our community.

We know that not all our employees with disability feel comfortable to disclose their disability to us *. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy outlines our plans to create an environment where all our employees feel comfortable to talk to NSLHD if they are living with disability.

We are continuing to foster a culture of inclusion and participation at NSLHD for all people living with disability. NSLHD enables this by supporting reasonable adjustments that facilitate workforce participation for people with disability. We are also building the capability of our employees (including hiring managers), so they have the right skills to support people with disability to access employment and also provide the best possible care to our patients and consumers.

* 1.09% of our staff told us during onboarding that they are living with disability, while 5% of respondents to the People Matter Employee Survey in 2022 stated that they had a disability.

We offer all employees living with disability, and their allies, an opportunity to join NSLHD’s Employee Resource Network on Disability (ERNoD). ERNoD fosters a culture of inclusion by raising awareness and delivering education that enhances workforce participation for people with disability. ERNoD is also a safe space to discuss all matters relating to disability and employment.
