Northern Sydney Local Health District offers opportunities that will help you learn and further develop your professional skills. We are affiliated with some of Australia's biggest and most sought after universities. Our in-house training is designed to suit today's contemporary public health setting, taught by our highly skilled and friendly educators.

 Diversity, inclusion and belonging

When workforces better reflect the communities they serve and employees feel they can contribute in a safe and supportive environment which values difference, organisations are more innovative, high performing and better places to work. They also deliver superior outcomes for patients, consumers and staff and patients feel confident they will receive care that is respectful, welcoming and appropriate to their needs.

Northern Sydney Local Health District has a Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy in place which outlines the workforce initiatives for 2020-2022.

There are five employee-led networks who drive the diversity, inclusion and belonging agenda for the district.

  • Muru Dali Gili Gili, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander network
  • LGBTQI+ network
  • Employee Resource Network for Disability
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) group
  • Women in Leadership

 Health and wellbeing

The NSLHD Health and Wellbeing Plan has been designed with staff in mind and aims to set out a strong commitment to assist them with health and wellbeing. It provides a holistic and simple approach while recognising that we all have different needs and priorities. The plan commits to supporting the health and wellbeing of our workforce and sets a platform to achieve this.

Central to the health and wellbeing program are the four key health pillars: healthy bodies, healthy places, healthy minds and healthy culture.

We are committed to promoting a work culture and environment that supports healthy lifestyles through our health and wellbeing program. The plan does not stand alone as it aligns with our CORE values and the district’s strategic commitment to an engaged and empowered workforce.

Examples of our achievements include: LGBTQ+, Disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employee Networks, NSLHD Wellbeing and JMO Wellbeing Committees, Site Health and Safety Committees, and NSLHD Speaking Up for Safety Strategy.
