Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) acknowledges the importance of providing practical clinical experience in the education of future health professionals. We have Student Placement Agreements (SPAs) with a range of tertiary institutions in nursing, allied health, oral health and medicine, to enable students to gain supervised clinical practice and experience at our health facilities. All student placements are arranged through your education provider (EP).
PhD students wanting to partner with NSLHD require Certificate of Currency from university regarding insurance status.
Before your placement
All students need to provide immunisation documentation and an original police check before commencing a placement at a NSW Health facility. Your EP can assist you to submit your evidence for assessment with the appropriate Local Health District/Specialty Network. For more information about student verification, please refer the
NSW Health information page .
Once your placement has been arranged, you will be given information about where to attend on your first day and who to report to.
Commencing your placement
Your supervisor/facilitator will provide you with an orientation to the clinical environment, including workplace health and safety, and outline your responsibilities as a student in a NSW Health facility. Be sure to ask questions and clarify the expectations of the supervisor and your facilitator (as appropriate) and to express your own learning goals.
