Research is a fundamental component of a high performing, innovative health district, and we know that the best quality healthcare is provided for our communities when a robust feedback loop exists between systematic research and health delivery.

We are fortunate to live in an era of rapid and exciting advances in research. New technologies and discoveries are revolutionising the healthcare we provide to patients and uncovering novel ways to tackle the health problems confronting our communities.

Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) has a proud history of engagement with a variety of partners in research delivery, including universities, medical research institutes, public health organisations, industry, non-government organisations and philanthropic organisations.

The  NSLHD Research Strategy 2019-2024 has been developed to support our research endeavours and further establish the District as a research-oriented organisation. It will ensure we continue to deliver health research that is underpinned by emerging trends including genomics, precision medicine and the convergence of medical and digital technologies.

The delivery of our Research Strategy is overseen by our Research Advisory Committee, and progress towards the initiatives identified in this strategy can be seen in our annually released  Research Year in Review and the  NSLHD Research Annual Report 2020.
