Dietitian


Nutrition Services provide a Dietitian ​service that assesses your nutritional needs before, during and after you have completed treatment for cancer. We provide individualised nutrition advice to help you to prevent excess weight loss and manage your individual treatment side effects that impact on your ability to eat aiming to improve your quality of life and ability to cope with your treatment.

Nutrition Services provides dietetic services specific to Surgical, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy treatment streams with particular focus to Head and Neck and Gastrointestinal Cancers.

We provide education, prescription and monitoring of patients on both oral nutrition support and those requiring enteral nutrition support (via tube feeding into the stomach).

 When are clinics on?

​There are several clinics:

  • Monday (0800-1300) Head and Neck Radiotherapy (Clinic combined with Speech pathology)
  • Tuesday (1400-1630) Head and Neck 
  • Wednesday (1300-1600) Medical Oncology
  • Thursday (0900-1200 Medical Oncology
  • Thursday (1330-1630) Radiotherapy (non-Head and Neck)

Attendance to Monday and Thursday radiotherapy clinics are to be attended from radiotherapy waiting room and all other clinic are to be attended from the main waiting area of the Northern Sydney Cancer Centre. 

 How to refer?

​Referrals are via Medical Teams, Cancer Care Coordinators, Radiotherapists, Speech Pathologist or as part of follow-up after an inpatient admission on referral from RNSH ward Dietitians.
